Strangely enough the figures in that headline 27bn report were produced by a Microsoft partner organisation (Detica) so I would take them with a pinch of salt. Microsoft is playing up 'IP rights' in every field at the moment, because when the desktop and server licenses dry up 'IP rights' is all that will be left to earn their money from. Trying to play up the media DRM elements of Vista and Windows 7 over the older XP by scaremongering about 'IP rights' is just a sales tactic. Expect more of the same.
